A Launceston teenager has been caught riding a go-kart down the city’s Southern Outlet in the early hours of Sunday morning.
The incident occurred around 1am, with the passenger of a trailing motorist filming the bizarre encounter while the driver flashed their lights.
The joy-ride didn’t last long, with an unmarked police car pulling the go-kart over before the rider could make it to the bottom of the outlet.
The young rider was reportedly issued with a warning.
A Tasmania Police spokesperson said riding a go-kart on a public street is “reckless and dangerous” and could have “tragic consequences”.
“Anyone who witnesses dangerous driving is asked to report to police on 131 444 or Triple Zero (000) in an emergency,” they told Pulse.
Incidents can also be reported through the portal on the Tasmania Police website.
