A 17-year-old is in hospital in a serious condition after being hit by a car while crossing the Bass Highway in Devonport last night.
Emergency services rushed to the scene near the Homemaker Centre around 8pm on Saturday after the teenage boy was struck by a car doing approximately 110km/h.
Police said the driver of the Nissan X-Trail, who had his two children in the car at the time, immediately stopped to assist and call for help.
“They were all understandably shaken, but uninjured, police said.
The injured teen was treated at the scene before being transported by ambulance to the North West Regional Hospital in Burnie.

Police said his injuries are believed to be non-life threatening.
Initial investigations suggest the teenager was part of a small group who had crossed the highway to purchase food when the collision occurred.

Diversions are in place, with all westbound traffic being redirected from Middle Road onto Stony Rise Road.
