Two teenagers are in hospital with serious injuries after their trail bikes collided head-on in Hobart’s northern suburbs late last night.
Police say the pair were riding in opposite directions along a walkway in Herdsmans Cove when they crashed into each other at around 11pm on Wednesday.
A 19-year-old woman and an 18-year-old man were rushed to hospital in a serious but stable condition.
Police said the area was poorly lit, neither bike had headlights and one of the riders was not wearing a helmet.
“Police remind all road users, particular motorcyclists, to prioritise their safety,” Inspector Luke Horne said.

“Please, if you’re a rider, [take steps to] protect your safety and the safety of others every time you ride.”
Police are continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash.
It comes just months after a 19-year-old man died in a similar incident in Bridgewater, where his off-road motorbike collided with a teenager riding a motorised pushbike in the opposite direction.
