MasterChef runner-up Josh ‘Pezza’ Perry has cooked up a “beautiful Cape Grim ribeye” for Premier Jeremy Rockliff.
The pair prepared the celebratory meal featuring locally grown baby carrots, broccolini and potatoes following the finale of the Channel 10 cooking show.
In the seven-minute clip, Rockliff described the meal as the “most magnificent example of Pezza’s meat and three veg”.
Pezza, a butcher from Smithton in Tasmania’s north-west, said his love of cooking motivated him to participate in the show.
“I hate cleaning up, but I love cooking I guess I found a bit of a natural ability in it,” he said.
“And I thought let’s take it to the next level.”
The Premier asked Pezza what was “next” for him after the show, to which the 43-year-old replied he would like to open a ‘paddock-to-plate’ restaurant.
“I don’t know what’s next for me to be honest with you. I’d love to start a restaurant, I really would down at home,” Pezza said.
“I think we’re lacking that.”
“So we’ll just keep our fingers crossed and keep our eyes out and I’m sure something’s gonna pop up.”
Although he missed out on the $250,000 grand prize to Victorian barista Nat Thaipun, Pezza walked away with $40,000 to jumpstart his next adventure.
