Thieves swipe $50,000 in cigarettes from Eastern Shore stores

Police have launched an investigation after thieves reportedly swiped around $50,000 in cigarettes from Eastern Shore stores in recent weeks.

Several business are believed to have been targeted by the burglars, including a Bellerive service station, a Lauderdale bottle shop and a Lindisfarne supermarket.

Detective Sergeant Boyd from Bellerive CIB said the offenders, who have “no regard for the impact their crimes have on local communities”, caused ‘around $25,000 damage’ to the business.

“Anyone with information about these incidents, or the subsequent illegal sale of cigarettes is asked to contact police, or Crime Stoppers anonymously,” she said.
