Around 3,200 customers are currently affected by the outage, which is impacting areas around Deloraine, Railton and Mole Creek.

TasNetworks says the outage, reported just after 10am, is due to a fault on the Railton feeder.

“We’ve discovered fallen high-voltage lines in an area where switching will be very difficult,” a spokesperson said.

“We’ll repair as soon as possible, but most customers are likely to be without power for several more hours. We appreciate your patience and support.”

“Please stay at least 10 metres clear of any fallen power-lines or other damage and report it to TasNetworks on 132 004.”

The outage is expected to continue into Tuesday afternoon.
