Three teenagers have been arrested following a dramatic police chase that started with dangerous motorcycle riding and ended with officers using drones to track the suspects through Opossum Bay.
An 18-year-old man and two 16-year-old boys were taken into custody after allegedly trying to evade police on motorbikes before fleeing on foot this afternoon.
The incident began when members of the public reported two motorcycles being ridden dangerously on South Arm Highway past Rokeby around 3:35pm.
The riders were heading towards South Arm.

Police deployed a significant response including uniformed officers and drone resources to search the South Arm and Opossum Bay areas.
The operation lasted about an hour until 4.35pm.

“The operation stemmed from an incident earlier today when police were notified by members of the public that two motorcycles were being ridden in a dangerous manner,” police said.
Officers said the trio first tried to escape on their motorcycles before abandoning them and fleeing on foot through Opossum Bay.
The arrests come amid growing community concerns about dangerous riding in the area.
Police said their investigation will include looking into “numerous recent complaints of similar driving behaviour in the Clarence area over the past week”.
The use of drone technology helped officers track and safely apprehend the three suspects without further incident.
Police are now calling for anyone with information about today’s events to come forward.
They’re particularly interested in dashcam footage showing the alleged dangerous driving.
“If anyone has information regarding today’s incident, or dashcam footage of the alleged dangerous driving, contact police on 131 444,” a spokesperson said.
