Three people have been charged following a “disturbance” in the small West Coast town of Zeehan that left a man in hospital.
Police were called to the incident on Main Street around 8:30pm on Thursday after a man was reportedly acting in a “threatening manner” towards the public.
Two hours later, officers were called to a nearby address following reports of a second disturbance, reportedly involving the same man.
“One person, a 51-year-old Zeehan man, was taken to hospital after becoming involved in an altercation with a group of other men,” police said.
The man has since been released from hospital and charged with three counts of assault, property damage, disorderly conduct and possessing a dangerous article.
An 18-year-old and a 20-year-old man, both from Rosebery, have also been charged with assault.
All three will appear in the Burnie Magistrates Court at a later date.
“A fourth man will be spoken to by police in the coming days,” a spokesperson said.
“Anyone with information about the incident who has not already spoken with police is asked to contact Burnie CIB on 131 444 and quote ESCAD 369-20032024.”
