Two Tasmanian tracking dogs are now helicopter-ready after undertaking flight familiarisation training with the Westpac Rescue Helicopter crew.

The pair, Haggis and Shae, belong to dedicated Search and Rescue volunteer Peter Hofto who Tasmania Police say has been instrumental in numerous successful searches across the state.

The recent training sessions focused on winch and hover exit operations, ensuring that Haggis and Shae are well-prepared to be flown to remote rescue scenes when needed.

Their remarkable tracking abilities have made them invaluable assets in locating missing persons in challenging terrains.
