Traffic chaos after ‘large’ carrot spill on Bass Highway roundabout

Motorists are facing delays in Tasmania’s north-west after a “large amount” of carrots spilled across a town roundabout, forcing police to implement diversions.

The unusual traffic hazard occurred at the intersection of Bass Highway and Moriarty Road in Latrobe, affecting the main route between Launceston and Devonport.

Police remain at the scene where they have established diversions while clean-up efforts continue.

A police spokesperson confirmed traffic travelling west from Launceston to Devonport is currently being diverted at Gilbert Street.

“Motorists are asked to avoid the area until the scene is cleared and obey all diversions in place,” the spokesperson said.
