Police have handed out multiple defect notices and seized vehicles after a traffic blitz in Risdon Vale yesterday uncovered a string of safety breaches.
The ‘Operation Full Stop’ crackdown uncovered seven vehicles with dangerous defects, including bald tyres, broken lights and faulty indicators.
But it was the discovery of a trail bike with deliberately removed rear brakes that prompted the most serious action, with police immediately taking the vehicle off the road.
“If your tyres look like the ones in these pictures – do not drive on the roads,” police said.

“They could be the reason you or someone else doesn’t make it home safely.”
The afternoon operation also picked up three unregistered vehicles and two unlicensed drivers.

One vehicle was caught displaying false plates, while another rider tried to escape on an unregistered trail bike by taking to the footpath.
Police said the trail bike would be seized for multiple offences, including being unregistered and illegally ridden on a footpath.
They added that ‘Operation Full Stop’ would roll on with “targeted activities, drone patrols and the seizure and clamping of vehicles” in the Rokeby and Risdon Vale areas.
“Operation Full Stop will continue … as part of a broader commitment to keeping our streets safe and protecting families, pedestrians and all road users from reckless behaviour,” police said.
