Police have charged two people after seizing what they estimate to be 600 street deals worth of methamphetamine in Tasmania’s north-west.
Officers allegedly made the bust during a search of a vehicle on the Bass Highway near Deep Creek Road at Wynyard about 4:15am on Sunday.
A 58-year-old Smithton man and a 43-year-old Smithton woman were arrested at the scene.
The man has been charged with trafficking in a controlled substance, selling controlled drugs and plants, using controlled substances and possessing a prohibited import.
The woman faces charges of selling a controlled plant, possessing and using a controlled drug, possessing drug paraphernalia, unlawfully possessing a dangerous article in public and possessing a prohibited import.

Police said the seizure would have a significant impact on drug supply in the region.
“Police place a priority on reducing the production and distribution of illicit drugs in the community,” a spokesperson said.
