Two former councillors have made their way back to the Dorset Council chambers after a messy governance situation that triggered mass resignations.
Jan Hughes and Wendy McLennan secured their positions through a recount conducted by the Tasmanian Electoral Commission.
Both previously served from 2018 to 2022.
They replace outgoing councillors Jerrod Nichols and Dale Jessup, who stepped down following an inquiry that exposed “significant failings” in the council’s governance, conduct and decision-making.
The inquiry’s findings, released in January, came after councillors had been sidelined for more than a year.

The fallout also resulted in councillors Anna Coxen, Beth Donoghue and Leonie Stein tendering their resignations.
Mayor Greg Howard added to the exodus in late January, announcing he too would step down.
Hughes and McLennan will serve until the 2026 elections.
The Electoral Commission is now working to fill the remaining vacancies through further recounts.
