Tasmania Police have seized two vehicles as investigations into a significant incident of anti-social behaviour in Clarendon Vale over the weekend continue.
Inspector Andrew Keane said a large gathering of people reportedly engaged in “hooning” and “disorderly conduct” on Bradman Street at around 3pm on Friday.
Police were called to the scene as the situation escalated, where they were met with a barrage of thrown bricks and fireworks.
The vehicle belonging to one of the offenders was also set alight and four police vehicles were damaged during the incident, although no injuries were reported.

“This type of behaviour is unacceptable in our communities,” Inspector Keane said.
“It is fortunate that no one was injured, including our officers whose safety was put at risk.”

A taskforce has since been formed to identify the offenders and lay charges.
As a result of the investigation so far, one man has been charged with drug driving, while three others will face summons for traffic offences.
A man was also arrested on an outstanding warrant.
Quantities of drugs (cannabis), cash, fireworks and flares” have been seized, along with the two vehicles, and number of infringement notices and defect notices were also issued in relation to traffic offences.

Inspector Keane warned that further charges are expected as investigations continue.
“Tasmania Police will not tolerate this kind of behaviour and is committed to hold people who engaged in such activities to account,” he said.
“Anyone with information is asked to contact police.
