A tragic collision between a vehicle and an all-terrain vehicle on Tasmania’s Murchison Highway has claimed two lives, including that of a teenage girl.
It marks the state’s first road fatality of the year.
The crash occurred on the Murchison Highway between Zeehan and Rosebery around 4:30pm on Saturday, where a white Mitsubishi Triton collided with a red Honda ATV.
A 15-year-old interstate visitor and a 38-year-old Rosebery man who were travelling on the ATV both died at the scene.

The driver of the Mitsubishi, a 40-year-old man, escaped physical injury and will undergo mandatory drug and alcohol testing as per standard procedure following fatal crashes.
Tasmania Police have launched an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the collision.

Officers have expressed gratitude to a group of interstate tourists who stopped at the scene and provided immediate medical assistance to the victims.
The fatality comes just days after Tasmania recorded its final road toll for 2025, which saw 44 people killed on the state’s roads.
That figure was 16 more than in 2024 and the highest since 50 fatalities were recorded in 2022.
Of the 44 deaths last year, 26 involved vehicle crashes, 12 involved motorcycles, five were pedestrians and one was an e-bike rider.
