A motorist has lost his licence for 12 months on the spot after blowing 0.152 in a police traffic operation in Rokeby today.
The driver was among several people caught out during the high-visibility blitz on Tollard Drive, which also netted four motorists who failed roadside drug tests.
“Police are disappointed in the driving behaviour of several motorists nabbed in a high-visibility traffic operation in Rokeby today,” Tasmania Police said.
Officers from Southern Road Policing, Bellerive uniform and Transport Safety and Investigation conducted 150 random breath tests during the operation.
Two people were caught driving with suspended licences, while police also seized two stolen motorcycles.
A further 12 vehicle defect notices were issued, along with eight traffic infringements for various offences.
“Road safety is a priority for Tasmania Police and our officers will be patrolling streets and roads state-wide to ensure motorists are doing the right thing,” police said.
Police reminded drivers that “driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs significantly impairs driving ability and increases the risk of crashes”.
They also warned against speeding, distraction, fatigue and failing to wear seatbelts.
