Two teens seriously injured in Launceston motorcycle crash

Police investigations are continuing after two 17-year-old boys suffered serious injuries in a motorcycle crash in the Launceston suburb of Norwood on Saturday night.

The collision occurred around 8:45pm at the roundabout intersection of Boiton Hill Road and Norwood Avenue, where a trailbike and a Subaru Forester collided.

One teenager, who was riding as a pillion passenger, has been transferred to the Royal Hobart Hospital in a critical condition with head injuries after initial treatment at Launceston General Hospital.

Initial investigations indicate neither of the young riders were wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.

Emergency services attended the scene, with Boiton Hill Road closed for approximately three hours while Tasmania Police, including Northern Crash Investigation Services and Forensic Services, conducted their examination.

The roundabout on Boiton Hill Road has been identified as the specific location of the crash, with police now calling for public assistance.

Authorities are urging anyone who witnessed the incident or who may have relevant footage from dashcams or CCTV to come forward.
