Two women hospitalised after Bass Highway crash at Heybridge

Two young women have been hospitalised after a serious collision at Heybridge east of Burnie this morning, with one suffering “potentially serious” injuries.

Emergency services were called to the intersection of the Bass Highway and Minna Road about 8am, where a silver Toyota Yaris and yellow Hyundai Elantra had collided.

Tasmania Police say the 23-year-old driver of the Hyundai was taken to North West Regional Hospital with “potentially serious” injuries.

The 19-year-old driver of the Toyota was transported to hospital with minor injuries.

One lane of the Bass Highway was closed for approximately two hours while crash investigators examined the scene.

Police are continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the collision.
