A ‘ufo-shaped’ cloud that appeared over Hobart this morning has nothing to with aliens, the BOM have confirmed.
Photos of the strange cloud in the sky above Brighton were shared to social media shortly after 7am on Thursday.

BOM forecaster Michael Conway said these clouds are known as ‘Altocumulus Lenticularis’ and are formed when air moves “in a wave motion” near the bottom of mountains.
“It is a cloud usually found downstream of mountains, at a height of a few km, and is stationary or near stationary,” Conway said.
