An uninvited visitor has slithered its way into a Mount Rumney woman’s home this week, destroying valuables in the process.
The two and a half foot tiger snake broke into the home undetected, making its presence known only when it knocked over a vase, shattering the early morning silence.
Seasoned expert from Reptile Rescue Incorporated, Chris Daly, was called to manage the situation.
He says despite the circumstances, the resident remained calm – watching the reptile from a safe distance and shining a torch on it until help arrived.
Tiger snakes, while not uncommon in Tasmania, can be sometimes be difficult to spot.
Daly says they can enter homes unnoticed when doors are left open, especially during warmer days, and tend to seek hidden spots to stay until the surroundings are quiet enough for them to explore.
