‘Wrong side of the road’: Police arrest driver involved in dangerous Mornington to Kingston joyride

A Kingston man has been arrested and his car clamped this weekend following a lengthy dangerous driving incident across the greater Hobart area.

Police were first alerted to the 35-year-old’s erratic behaviour around midday on Saturday when he was allegedly spotted driving a dark grey Holden Cruze on the wrong side of the road in Mornington.

The reckless driving continued around an hour later when, while being watched by police, he seen undertaking vehicles using the emergency lane and gravel verge on the Southern Outlet.

Police said he then came close to causing a crash on the Kingston Bypass.

After tracking the driver to a Kingston residence, officers took the man into custody to appear in court.

“Police are calling for witnesses to the driving manner of the vehicle and would appreciate any information or CCTV/dashcam,” a spokesperson said.

“Information can be provided via 131 444 or reported anonymously through Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or at crimestopperstas.com.au.”
