Unlocked cars, homes targeted in $130,000 crime spree across Launceston’s northern suburbs

Three people have been charged after police recovered more than $130,000 worth of stolen property following recent burglaries in Launceston’s northern suburbs.

A 22-year-old Kings Meadows man, a 28-year-old Mowbray man and a 43-year-old Mowbray woman were arrested late last week in relation to the incidents.

Police allege the trio targeted vacant homes and unlocked vehicles across the north of the city.

The stolen property was subsequently found at a residence in Mowbray.

The trio are facing various charges including aggravated burglary, possession of stolen property, stealing, trespass and burglary.

All three have been granted bail and will appear in the Launceston Magistrates Court at a later date.

“Tasmania Police reminds the community to ensure residences and vehicles are secure when left unattended, to deter opportunistic crime,” a spokesperson said.
