The Westpac Rescue Helicopter was dispatched to the area at 11pm on Saturday and managed to locate and winch the bushwalkers to safety around 12:40am on Sunday.

* Let someone know your route and expected return time before you go.
* Always carry a fully charged mobile phone and consider a portable charger to extend battery life.
* Carry a Personal Locator Beacon but be aware that they are a one-way communication device.
* Be flexible and be prepared to turn back or change plans if severe weather is forecast or eventuates during the walk.
