Police have seized unregistered firearms, weapons and illicit drugs during a weekend search at a Huon Valley property.
Kingston officers carried out the operation as part of an ongoing investigation into weapons in southern Tasmania.
“Reducing the number of illicit firearms in the community is a priority for Tasmania Police,” a police spokesperson said.
They said it was “pleasing” to see the unregistered firearms no longer posing a risk to the public.
The seized weapons will be destroyed once court proceedings are finalised.
Police are urging anyone with information about illegal firearms to come forward, reminding the community that a permanent firearms amnesty is in place across the state.
Under the amnesty, people can hand in unregistered or unwanted firearms to police or licensed firearms dealers without facing possession charges.
“If you have knowledge of illicit firearms in the community, call police on 131 444 or report anonymously to Crime Stoppers Tasmania,” the spokesperson said.
Police have not released details about any charges laid in connection with the search or the amount of drugs seized.
