Vandal tears up primary school oval in Hobart motorbike stunt

A Hobart primary school oval has been vandalised by a motorbike rider performing stunts, with footage of the incident sparking outrage after being shared on social media.

The video shows a rider doing doughnuts and driving in circles on Montagu Bay Primary School’s oval, adjacent to the Tasman Bridge on the Eastern Shore.

The actions tore up the grass, leaving visible damage across the oval.

Community members have expressed anger after the footage, believed to have been originally posted by the perpetrator himself, began circulating broadly today.

“What a waste of space … oxygen thief needs to be made fix the damage at his own expense needs to get a job got too much time on his hands,” said one commenter on Dashcams Tasmania.

Another commenter, who said he is a retired paramedic, shared concerns about the broader implications of the behaviour.

“I … sadly saw the first hand results of stuff like this and quite honestly, it really is the people minding their own business that pay the price.”

While many social media users were quick to identify who they alleged to be the rider, no charges have yet been laid.
