Residents in Orford and Triabunna can now use water freely again, with restrictions officially lifted after recent rain topped up local dams.
Over 50 millimetres of rain fell across the catchment areas during the long weekend, bringing much-needed relief to the Prosser Dams after a particularly dry autumn had left supplies running low.
TasWater spokesperson Liz Hafner thanked locals for doing their bit during the restrictions.
“As most Tasmanians would have noticed, much of the state has experienced lower-than-average rainfall well into autumn which saw stage one water restrictions come into effect,” she said.

“We were hopeful that rain would eventually reach the areas that needed it most, but for some time, there was little to no meaningful rainfall.”
“The dams finally received the top up they needed over the long weekend.”

Restrictions had been in place since early April, with residents asked to limit outdoor water use and reduce unnecessary consumption during the dry spell.
Meanwhile, Lady Barron on Flinders Island remains under stage one restrictions, with TasWater continuing to monitor local catchment levels and weather conditions.
Hafner said the situation there is “slowly improving”.
“It’s important to be mindful of water use year-round, regardless of the season. Every drop counts,” she said.
