A woman caught drink-driving at almost six times the legal limit has landed back in police custody less than 24 hours later.
The 50-year-old from Nubeena was first stopped in the state’s south on Friday night, blowing a breath alcohol reading of 0.228.
She was immediately disqualified from driving for 24 months, charged with high-range drink-driving and sent home on bail.
But by the next morning, officers say she was back behind the wheel and trying to evade police.
Constable James Blay said the woman initially attempted to drive off from officers around 11:40am on Saturday before finally coming to a stop.
“Drink driving presents a serious and unacceptable risk for both your own life and the lives of other road users,” he said.
“Being almost six times the legal limit is both highly dangerous and reckless.”
“Those who continue to drive after being disqualified face serious consequences … it isn’t worth taking the risk to getting back behind the wheel.”
The woman was arrested again and charged with driving while disqualified, evading police and breaching bail conditions.
She remains in custody and will face court at a later date.
