Updated 1:40pm, Tuesday: A Launceston woman has been charged with attempted murder after a child known to her was allegedly stabbed overnight.
The child, whose age has not been disclosed, was airlifted to Melbourne with serious knife wounds and remains in a serious condition.
The 33-year-old Ravenswood woman will face a bedside court hearing later today.
Police were called to the Launceston General Hospital shortly before midnight on Monday after the child presented with stab injuries.
The woman also presented at the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

She remains in police custody while receiving medical treatment.
Tasmania Police confirmed the woman and child were known to each other but have not disclosed the nature of their relationship.
Police have not confirmed where the alleged wounding took place.
Earlier: A child is fighting for their life in a Melbourne hospital after sustaining serious “knife wounds” in Tasmania overnight.
Tasmania Police confirmed they are investigating the incident as a suspected wounding.
“Investigations are ongoing and there is no risk to the public,” police said in a statement.
