A woman has died at the scene of a serious crash on the West Tamar Highway at Exeter overnight.
Emergency services were called to the two-vehicle collision on the highway just north of the township at 7:40pm on Friday.
Police say initial investigations indicate the woman was driving south when a car travelling in the opposite direction crossed onto the incorrect side of the road.
They allege the car, a black Dodge Ram, then collided head-on with her blue Honda Accord.
The Dodge was being driven by a man who had two children as passengers.
All three were taken to the Launceston General Hospital with injuries reported to be “non-life threatening”.
The highway was closed for several hours while crash investigators examined the scene.
Anyone with information or relevant dashcam footage of either vehicle in the area at the time is being urged to come forward.
Police will prepare a report for the coroner.
