Woman found with drugs and taser faces multiple charges after being pulled over for driving disqualified

A woman found driving an uninsured and unregistered vehicle while under the influence of drugs has appeared in the Hobart Magistrates Court.

The 59-year-old woman, who was disqualified from driving until 2025, was stopped by police in Sorell shortly after 10:30pm on Tuesday night.

A roadside drug test revealed the woman was under the influence of drugs at the time, with a search of her car uncovering a quantity of cannabis and a taser.

“The driver was arrested and charged with drive whilst disqualified, possess prohibited item, drive unregistered vehicle, uninsured vehicle and drug offences,” police said.

“She was detained to appear in the Hobart Magistrates Court today.”
