Four young people, including a 12-year-old, have been charged in relation to a recent spate of Metro bus attacks in Southern Tasmania this month.

The 12-year-old is accused of several offences, one of which involves allegedly damaging a Metro bus on October 16.

A 13-year-old will also face charges for allegedly damaging a bus on October 5, while a 15-year-old and an 18-year-old man are being proceeded against for an incident on October 8.

Inspector Jason Klug said Tasmania Police has dedicated officers who are working closely with Metro to stamp out the incidents.

“We will continue to detect and deter anti-social behaviours and damage to Metro buses,” he said.

The recurring incidents have prompted Metro to ban buses from entering parts of Hobart’s northern suburbs in the evenings.

The company says the ban will remain in place until the incidents are resolved.
