TasPorts Chairman Stephen Bradford has stepped down after nine years of service.
It comes amidst ongoing controversies around the state’s port infrastructure for the new Spirit of Tasmania ferries.
Bradford, who previously spent a decade running the Port of Melbourne as CEO, announced his retirement in a statement following the company’s annual report being tabled in Parliament today.
“Yesterday I advised the Premier that I will retire after nine fulfilling years,” Bradford said.
“I have enjoyed my time at TasPorts immensely and am proud of what the team has achieved during my tenure.”
The search for a replacement is already underway.
Bradford’s departure comes a day after Hobart re-established its position as the gateway to Antarctica, with the announcement of $188 million in wharf upgrades to redevelop Hobart’s Macquarie Wharf 6 to accomodate the Nuyina icebreaker.
