A woman has walked away from a night out at a Campbell Town pub more than half a million dollars richer.
Motorbike rider Debbie, who was participating in the annual Blackdog Charity Ride and was staying at the hotel, struck gold and pocketed a whopping $553,146.05 in TasKeno game 5992 at the Campbell Town Hotel Motel on Saturday night.
Vanessa Riley, the pub’s Director and Manager, told Pulse they’ve seen various small wins over the last few months, with the most recent big winner taking home $333,000 in 2022.
“She bought the ticket around 6:30pm, but we were so busy and had so many people, we didn’t realise it had been won,” Riley said.
“It wasn’t until we saw it come up on social media about an hour later that we realised and went around to everyone and asked if they got a ticket.”
It took about an hour before she went back up to the bar and scanned her ticket.
“She almost fell over and went into shock,” Riley said.
Young players from the Southern Tasmanian Clarence Zebras soccer team, who only just turned 18, were among the people inside the pub at the time and jumped in on the celebrations.
[While we] were coming back from a game at Devonport, we made a stop at Campbell Town pub and while me and my mate were having a drink, the girl next to us won 554,000 from Keno,” one player told Pulse.
The winner told staff the money had come at a good time for her, while playing the numbers she ‘always uses’.
01, 03, 06, 08, 11, 12, 16, 17, 21, 22, 23, 25, 29, 32, 36, 41, 42, 53, 61 and 67 were the winning numbers.
