WorkSafe Tasmania inspectors have been keeping a close eye on rides and food vendors at this year’s Royal Hobart Show.
The inspectors checked vendors at the show on Wednesday and Thursday, with a focus on ensuring the safety and proper maintenance of the attractions.
On Friday afternoon, a WorkSafe spokesperson they had given the show a clean bill of health after finding no safety issues.
“Public safety is the primary concern when conducting the inspections,” they said.
“WorkSafe Tasmania is pleased to report that no notices were issued as a result of the inspections.”
The show, which is celebrating its 203rd year, features a range of entertainment options, from dinosaur shows and animal exhibitions to rides and crowd-favourite competitions.
Over 12,000 people visited the Regatta Grounds on Thursday, with organisers expecting to break attendance records.
Scott Gadd, CEO of the Royal Agricultural Society of Tasmania, said the Glenorchy showgrounds’ future is still uncertain – with delays to refurbishment of the site.
“I honestly don’t think we’re going to have the new showground ready next year,” he said.
“We’re still waiting on a bit of planning approval, so we hope to start in January.”
“That means next year we’ll be looking for a home, probably here [at the Regatta Grounds], but I’m not 100% certain what the state of this site will be next year either.”
