A 20-year-old man has become Tasmania’s fourth road fatality this year after his quad bike crashed on a remote forestry track last night.
The young man was riding with a group of friends between Tasmanite Road and Pump House Road at Railton when he left the track and clipped a tree stump at around 9pm.
Police said he received medical treatment at the scene but could not be saved.
The death comes just days after two people were killed in a quad bike collision on the Murchison Highway and a 25-year-old man died when his car hit trees at Legana.
Tasmania Police Acting Inspector Martin Parker said the latest death marked the third serious off-road vehicle crash in recent weeks.

He said it was a tragic reminder of how quickly things could go wrong.
“We urge all riders to take extra care. Wear helmets and protective gear, stick to safe speeds and avoid risky terrain,” he said.
Crash investigators are examining the circumstances and will prepare a report for the coroner.
“Tasmania Police offer our heartfelt condolences and sympathy to the family, friends and loved ones of all those involved at this difficult time,” a spokesperson said.
