Young Tasmanian woman allegedly caught with 875 grams of drugs in Launceston raid

A young Launceston woman has been charged with trafficking 375 grams methylamphetamine and 500 grams of GHB (Gamma-hydroxybutyrate) after police raided two properties in the city.

The 23-year-old is accused of unlawfully importing a controlled substance, trafficking in a controlled substance and possessing a controlled drug.

Police said she was also charged with a constitutional flight offence after allegedly attempting to board an interstate flight using false details.

The woman was held in custody overnight and appeared in Launceston Magistrates Court on Thursday.

She was remanded to reappear in August.

Anyone with information about illicit substances in Tasmania is urged to contact police.
