Young Tasmanian worker found dead at Pilbara mining camp

A 23-year-old Tasmanian man has been found dead at a workers’ accommodation facility in Western Australia’s Pilbara region.

Emergency services were called to Bechtel Village in Karratha’s Gap Ridge on Sunday after reports of an unresponsive man at the site.

Police confirmed the young worker was found deceased at the Madigan Road facility on Sunday October 26, according to Ngaarda Media.

Authorities said the death is not being treated as suspicious and a report will be prepared for the coroner.

The identity of the worker has not been released, but it has been confirmed he was from Tasmania and was employed at one of the resource projects in the Pilbara region.

Bechtel Village serves as accommodation for fly-in, fly-out mining and resource workers employed on various projects in the Karratha area, located approximately 1,500 kilometres north of Perth.
