Around 100 people lined up outside the Mecca store in Hobart on Friday morning as it reopened following months of renovations.
The cosmetics retailer welcomed shoppers back to its Murray Street location from 9am, with the refreshed store described as a “sparkling new space.”
Mecca offered an exclusive Beauty Loop Box to the first shoppers through the door, along with beauty and bakery treats and express services from brands including Emma Lewisham, Charlotte Tilbury and Westman Atelier.
The store had been operating from a pop-up at Centrepoint Shopping Centre while renovation work was carried out at its permanent home on the ground floor of 55-59 Murray Street.
The Hobart store first opened in 2018 and was the beauty chain’s first Tasmanian location.
It was joined by a Launceston store in August last year, when an estimated 1,000 people lined up around the block in seven degree weather for that city’s first Mecca opening on Charles Street.
The billion-dollar beauty empire is owned by Jo Horgan and her husband Peter Wetenhall.
