The Bureau of Meteorology has recorded a 120km/h wind gust in Tasmania’s southwest tonight as they increase a severe weather warning for damaging winds.

In the central and western areas of the state, damaging west to northwesterly winds were averaging 65km/h on Tuesday evening, with peak gusts of around 100km/h possible into Wednesday.
Winds are forecast to ease by late Wednesday morning.
