A Southern Tasmanian man has been caught by police after driving 80km/h over the speed limit on one of Greater Hobart’s ‘most crash prone’ roads this weekend.
Constable Shane Etherington said the car was detected travelling at 160km/h in an 80km/h zone along Brinktop Road in Penna.
“It’s disappointing that road users continue to travel at such high speeds and don’t heed the continued advice from Tasmania Police,” said Constable Etherington.
“All road users are reminded that police can and will clamp vehicles detected travelling at 45km/h or more above the speed limit.
“Speeding at any level is not safe and places all Tasmanian road users at risk”.
The speed limit was lowered to 80km/h an hour on Brinktop Road in 2022 after a number of serious crashes.
Police are urging anyone who sees dangerous driving in Tasmania to come forward.
