A taskforce setup by Tasmania Police to reduce illicit drug and firearm-related crime in the state has seen 17 criminals charged in just one week.
Drugs, cash and firearms have all been seized by officers working on Taskforce Scelus across the west coast and north-west in its first week of operation.
Detective Inspector Michelle Elmer said although Tasmania is a very safe place to live, there is “small minority of people who continue to do the wrong thing”.
“We will continue to target anyone involved in criminal activity in our state,” she said.
“The drugs seized are highly addictive, and have no place in our community. If you are seeking to profit by selling harmful drugs to Tasmanians we will target you and your activities.”
