1k+ Hobart homes without power after vehicle crashes into pole

More than 1,000 households in Hobart’s Northern Suburbs are without power after a vehicle crashed into a power pole tonight.

The car has downed power lines on Mary’s Hope Road and knocked out power for 1,030 in Berriedale, Chigwell, Collinsvale, Glenlusk and Rosetta.

Images from the scene obtained by Pulse show multiple damaged vehicles and the destroyed power pole dangling in mid-air.

Police say at this stage, no serious injuries have been reported but ask motorists and pedestrians to avoid the area while the scene is cleared.

TasNetworks initially expected power to be restored at 12am, however this has since been pushed pack to around 1am.
