Hobart has smashed its winter temperature record with an unseasonal 21-degree day, the warmest the city has experienced since August last year.
The temperature soared higher than several other capital cities across the country on Tuesday, including Brisbane (20.9C), Melbourne (20.5C) and Sydney (18.9C).
Only Adelaide was warmer than Hobart, with a top of 22.8 degrees.
At 1:30pm, kunanyi/Mt Wellington also reached 10.6 degrees, while several forecast districts recorded 20 degrees or slightly higher, including the Upper Derwent Valley, King Island and Flinders Island.
“As you might imagine, there’s no snow up there at present, nor is there any snow at the tiny club-run skifield of Mt Mawson,” Weatherzone forecasters said.
“Hobart appears to have been the state’s warmest location this Tuesday with its 21-degree maximum … thanks to mild winds streaming across the state from the north-west.”
While conditions will cool slightly over the coming days, they will remain mild, with no snow expected on the mountain until next week.
The forecast for the rest of the week includes showers statewide on Wednesday and Thursday, with northwesterly winds.
Showers are also predicted for Friday and Saturday, with winds shifting to the north and east.
