Police have seized 21 firearms from a 67-year-old Northern Midlands man after a random inspection of his home uncovered multiple breaches of firearms laws.
Officers from Firearms Services carried out the inspection and identified several firearms safety and licensing issues at the property.
Police allege firearms and ammunition were being stored together, there was no working electronic security device and the man had two silencers and an unregistered firearm in his possession.
All 21 firearms were taken from the licence holder as a result.
The man will be summonsed to face charges over the offences.
Firearms Services will also review whether he remains suitable to hold a firearms licence.
Under Tasmanian law, anyone who holds 10 or more firearms must have a working electronic security device in place.
The requirement is designed to protect firearms from theft, unauthorised access and misuse.
Tasmania Police said it would continue to carry out regular inspections across the state to make sure firearms are stored safely and licence holders are meeting their obligations.
