Tasmanians in some corners of the state are in for what the Bureau of Meteorology says will be “severe heatwave conditions” over the coming days.
The weather bureau has issued a warning for the Central Plateau, Western and North West Coast Districts.
Forecasters say maximum temperatures are predicted to reach the high twenties to low thirties and overnight minimums in the mid to high teens.
“Severe heatwave conditions will develop over large parts of western Tasmania from Thursday and continue … into early next week,” the BOM said.
“Locations likely to be impacted include Queenstown and Strathgordon.”
The hottest town on Thursday is expected to be Ouse, with a maximum temperature of 30 degrees.
Launceston, Rosebery, Fingal, Oatlands and Brighton will all reach 27 degrees, while Hobart will have a maximum of 24 degrees and Burnie, Devonport and Port Arthur 22 degrees.
On Friday, Ouse will again be the warmest spot with 32 degrees, followed closely by New Norfolk at 31 degrees.
In the north-west, Smithton will lead at 25 degrees, Launceston at 29 degrees and St Helens will experience a cooler 22 degrees.
Hobart is expected to enjoy a pleasant 28 degrees on Friday.
Saturday will see Ouse and New Norfolk again reach 31 degrees, followed by Campania, Brighton and Huonville at 30 degrees.
Hobart will be at 28 degrees and Launceston 27 degrees.
