Four-year-old airlifted to hospital after being hit by car in Launceston

A young boy is fighting for his life in hospital after he was hit by a car in Launceston last night.

The four-year-old was rushed to the Launceston General Hospital with serious injuries around 6:40pm on Saturday.

He was later airlifted to the Royal Hobart Hospital, where he remains in a critical but stable condition.

Police say the child “ran onto the roadway” on Franmaree Road in Newnham before being struck.

Investigators are urging anyone who saw the incident or has dashcam or CCTV footage of the vehicle, a grey Suzuki, to come forward.
