Motorists who use the Channel Highway south of Kingston are being warned to prepare for ‘lengthy delays’ of around 30 minutes tomorrow as rock blasting is undertaken for the construction of a new roundabout.
RoadTas say the Channel Highway at Huntingfield between Rays Court and Maddocks Road will be closed to all traffic in both directions between 1:30pm and 2:00pm.
“If you’re travelling between Margate and Huntingfield, we encourage you to avoid this section of the highway during blasting times or allow for a delay of at least 30 minutes,” a spokesperson said.

The construction of the roundabout began in April this year and is expected to be completed by January 2024.
Throughout the construction period, motorists are advised to allocate an additional eight minutes of travel time to their journeys.
