Dozens of ‘Bashers’ have arrived back in Hobart after tooting their way across the state for the 32nd Variety Federal Group TasBash.

A total of 11 themed cars, accompanied by passionate fundraising teams, set off on the 1,200km round trip from Hobart’s Parliament Lawns on Saturday, with just 8 managing to complete the trip.

One vehicle broke down after covering just 30 kilometres of the route, which took the remaining cars through the north-west, north-east and east coast of the state.

Upon their arrival at Wrest Point on Thursday afternoon, Variety Tasmania CEO Mohammad Aldergham announced that the crew had raised donations totalling “almost $200,000” this year.

Aldergham says the funds will support Variety’s mission of brightening the lives of sick and disadvantaged kids.
