A 42-year-old Launceston man is facing multiple charges after allegedly invading the pitch and assaulting security guards following Friday night’s AFL clash between Hawthorn and Adelaide.
The incident occurred immediately after the final siren at UTAS Stadium when the intoxicated man ran onto the field, disrupting post-match activities while players and umpires were leaving the ground.
Security staff quickly responded to remove the pitch invader, but two guards were allegedly assaulted during the confrontation.
Tasmania Police confirmed they arrested the man at the scene.

“Police attended and arrested the man, who appeared to be intoxicated,” a police spokesperson said.
No injuries were reported following the altercation.
The man has been charged with trespass, assault and disorderly conduct and will face court at a later date.
