Almost $65,000 has been raised through an online fundraiser for the family of Lila, a 10-year-old girl who died in a head-on crash in Tasmania’s north-west.
By 3pm on Sunday, 558 donations totalling $64,915 had been made, close to the $70,000 goal.
The GoFundMe page, set up for Lila’s parents Ash and John Paul, says donations will help with funeral costs, travel and accommodation in Hobart, time away from work and everyday living expenses.
Lila’s grandmother, Caroline, was also seriously injured in the crash.

The fundraiser organisers said she was in a serious but stable condition in hospital in Hobart.
Writing on the GoFundMe page, the organisers described the family’s “heartbreak and devastation”.

“No parent should ever have to experience the unimaginable pain of losing a child,” they said.
“At just 10 years old, Lila had her whole life ahead of her.”
The page said the family was dealing with their grief while also facing “the worry and uncertainty surrounding Caroline’s recovery”.
“During a time like this, the last thing any family should have to worry about is finances,” the organisers said.

“While no amount of money can ever bring their beautiful Lila back or take away their pain, we can come together to make sure they don’t have to face the practical burdens of this tragedy alone.”
People who cannot donate are asked to share the fundraiser and keep the family in their thoughts.
Police said on Thursday that the girl was a passenger in a white Subaru that collided head-on with a white Toyota Hilux on the Bass Highway, around 3.5km west of Somerset. She died at the scene.
